What others are saying

Nyingsha Standley, Nursing Student (Cameroon 🇨🇲)

Dear Nurses In Charge,

I hope this message finds you well. Thank you for this opportunity to reflect and share what being part of NIC has meant to me.

“I was inspired to join Nurses In Charge because I saw a community that truly reflects love, unity, and guidance; values that every nurse and human being desires. The vision and aspirations of the founder and members resonated deeply with me. I saw a shared mission: to celebrate, empower, and connect nurses who are purpose-driven to serve humanity and God through their work. That alignment inspired me to become part of this meaningful movement.

Being a Nurse In Charge has been a powerful experience, both personally and professionally. It has helped me grow in my communication, networking, servant leadership, and teamwork skills. Even as a student, NIC gave me a platform that allowed my voice to be heard and my work to be seen.

Personally, NIC has helped me clarify my purpose and deepen my faith. The support from the faith-based community within the organization has strengthened my commitment to service and to God. I am truly grateful and remain committed to uplifting the image of NIC, so it may continue to fulfill its noble purpose. God bless the NIC community. 🙏🏿”

What inspired me to join NIC was the passion and purpose behind the organization. NIC has helped me understand my position as a nurse—both personally and professionally.

It has taught me the value of calm, respectful communication when speaking with my patients. I’ve also come to realize how important excellent customer service is in healthcare.

Thanks to NIC, I now know how to speak to my patients with empathy and confidence, especially when they are sick and vulnerable. I am truly grateful to be part of NIC.

Thank you, NIC!

Neyor L. Karmue (Liberia 🇱🇷 USA 🇺🇸)

Nurses In Charge means a lot to me! I was inspired to join Nurses In Charge because of its unique commitment to helping nurses connect worldwide, celebrating achievements, and empowering nurses and midwives to take charge of their professional duties and care for patients based on evidence-based nursing practices.

Personally, being a Nurse In Charge has empowered me in many ways. One highlight was traveling on an incredible international “Nurses In Charge Tour” (NICTOUR) through seven counties in the Republic of Liberia, West Africa, from December 2–29, 2024, alongside an amazing team that included nurses, a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a registered nurse midwife, a journalist, a chef, drone and media specialists, recorders, a chief mechanic/driver, photographers, and a legal documentation expert.

By the grace of God, we successfully established five new NIC chapters, adding to the existing two for a total of seven chapters. During this journey, we also launched Nurses and Midwives In Charge (NMIC) in December 2024.

One unforgettable moment was when the National Police, joined by community members, healthcare teams, and students, marched with us through the streets of Ganta, Nimba County—where NIC Chapter One was first established in 2023. We walked to the sound of the police band, all the way to the celebration held at the Methodist Hospital Gymnasium Auditorium.

This tour was truly an eye-opening experience, giving us the opportunity to meet passionate nurses, midwives, nursing students, administrators, and other healthcare professionals.

Above all, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ protected and supported us, granting us favor every step of the way. I thank God Almighty for all our wonderful supporters and stakeholders.

I pray we will continue to travel across the world and connect with many more healthcare professionals.

With gratitude,

Neyor L. Karmue, NMIC Advisor, RN, Nurse Midwife
